 IT Support Specialist- Town of Smithfield, USA



Perform hardware, software and operating system installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, one-on-one training, and telephone support. Must be able to diagnose connectivity issues, answering questions about hardware and/or software, and help users access network drives. In this position, you will be required to set up and support desktops and notebooks, printers, LAN connections, wireless connections, and LAN security. We are looking for an applicant with strong analytical skills, along with familiarity with different operating systems, such as Windows, Windows Servers and/or macOS, and be proficient in one or more programming languages. The applicant will provide system administration for Windows Servers and VM’s including installation, configuration, security, storage, resource used and allocation of server drives, backup and restore policies and perform other duties as assigned.  Must be able to perform tasks unsupervised. Reports to the Director of Technology.

 

Must be able to physical perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Perform work exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.  Applicant may be subject to complete a drug screen, criminal history check, physical and driver’s license check.

 

Minimum education requirements: Associate Degree or Accredited Technical School Certificate in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or Software Development, and/or a certification in CompTIA, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft.
