Job Description:
NeuerEnergy is seeking a Data Scientist with strong knowledge of the renewable energy markets to join our technology venture. The purpose of the role is setting up and maintaining forecasting services, assessing their accuracy, refining forecast performance, investigating new modelling methods, and supporting teams with the services in the fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Understand the foundational elements of using advanced analytics and data science to problem solve (e.g. Linear Algebra, Multivariable Statistics, Support Vector Machines, Decision Tree, Random Forests, Artificial Neural Networks, etc:
Communicate often complex analytical solutions to the wider department, ensuring a strong transfer of key findings and intelligence
Identify relevant data and manage data access negotiations and collection as well as storage and analysis.
Implement data science and machine learning methods to extract insights from data and translate them into actionable policies and other recommendations
Main Duties:
Developing and implementing a Long term forecasting algorithm
Improving the platform's existing capabilities
Forecasting and perform simulations of factors affecting the price
Working with the developers to create workflows that allow clients to maximise their efficiency across day ahead and intraday markets
Proven experience in the energy industry with a specific focus on having developed forecasting models
Proven track record of developing forecasting models that have been successfully implemented in industry and used to determine investment decisions
Experience forecasting additional time horizons and geographies is a plus
Coding experience to develop the models. This will likely be in a statistically driven programming language such as Python or R
Run and continuously improve existing price forecasting, models, databases and methodology
Monitor and assess market and regulatory developments including reports and the review and challenge external consultant forecasts
Maintain and regularly review market data and input assumptions
Produce price forecasts and scenarios, and provide expert insight for optimisation, hedging, budgeting and investment/business development decisions
You will have:
Masters or PhD in Data Science with a Finance background
Python and its data science libraries (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, seaborn, Scikit Learn, matplotlib, IPython/Jupyter)
R, Python, Azure, Power BI
Expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Statistics
Be able to demonstrate value from your previous projects
A demonstrable ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
A self starter who is confident to own the process from data preparation to model building and implementation
Good to have:
Minimal of 2 years experience in Energy Industry
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt the communication style to a specific audience
Hold advanced qualifications in quantitative disciplines
Will be working with large volumes of data and have solid experience working with big data architecture and data flows
Understand agile iterative development and delivery with a “hands on” approach and a “can do” attitude
Be highly disciplined and self-organised, but also a team player.
Data engineering skills with cloud platforms and big data tools
Knowledge of cloud deployments
Experience with business intelligence dashboards such as PowerBI, Qlik & Tableau
