Job Description
Annalect is an international company with branches in major metropolises around the globe including New York, London, Melbourne, and Auckland.
 
Annalect clients include some of the largest companies in NZ. As such, our clients spend millions of dollars on promoting their products and services across different media channels (TV, radio, search engines, social media, etc.). We provide services that both explain what was the impact of the client's marketing effort and guide decisions makers on how to spend their budget effectively.
 
Currently, we are looking for an entry-level Data Scientist, based at our Auckland office, who has a strong academic background in Statistics. We offer mentorship, real-world experience, and room to grow to get you ready for the next step in your career (which will hopefully be in Annalect too).
 

    Start date - ASAP, but this is flexible for the right person.
    This is a permanent position and is open to valid NZ work visa holders.

Position Purpose:

    Run pre-built marketing science models to produce actionable insights for clients.
    Conduct additional data analyses to answer ad hoc questions from internal and external stakeholders.
    Communicate results of analyses to clients via written documents (emails, PowerPoint files, etc.) and potentially in-person presentations.
    Work with internal stakeholders to ensure insights are actioned as far as possible.
    Develop media and data science skillsets through formal or self-led training.
    Actively engage in knowledge-sharing and ideation with members of the Data Science and wider Annalect team.
    As experience grows, look for opportunities to streamline and automate existing data science products.  
    Be proactive about getting data and information required to complete deliverables in a timely fashion, which may involve ‘chasing' internal and external data providers.
    Comply with Annalect security standards in the way we maintain records of original data or corrected data in an acceptable manner.
    Manage and resolve all internal and external data deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills and Experience:

    Strong academic background in Statistics.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Basic knowledge of R. Knowledge of Python, and SQL will also be regarded.
    Hunger to learn analytical methods, the media industry and our clients' businesses.
    A willingness to always ask questions when uncertain.
    Ability to be proactive about getting data from our internal and external providers.
    Ability to meet established deadlines.
    Excellent attention to detail.

The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Helpdesk Analyst to join our team in Wellington.
In this role you will be primarily focused on providing software and hardware support to our offices nationwide.
 
You will also be on call 1 week out of every 8 weeks. 5:30pm – 10:00pm weeknights and 8:00am – 8:00pm during weekends.
 
Our Team
We have 8 in our Service desk team and we provide support over the phone, via email and onsite to people located across our eight offices.
 
About you
We are looking for a bright and driven individual with exceptional relationship building and customer service skills.
Ideally you will have:

        At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role supporting 500+ staff
        Ideally have worked in a corporate environment
        Phone, email and face-to-face support experience required
        Demonstrable problem solving experience
        Supported Microsoft Office Products and Windows 10 Operating Systems.
        Hands-on experience working with laptop hardware and mobile devices.
        Excellent communication skills and professional phone manner
        Ability to work well under pressure and with a sense of urgency
        Obtained, or working towards MCSA / MCITP or ITIL qualifications are advantageous.

A strong client focus, flexible approach and love of a fast paced team environment will ensure your success in this role.

Job Summary

Assists junior staff members and works with other developers and production Database Administrators to ensure scalable, efficient and optimized solutions. Works closely with customers, management, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Designs, develops, maintains and improves data structures, queries, reporting solutions, extract-transform-load (ETL) processes and data warehousing strategies for all mission critical projects. Ensures solutions are aligned with business and Information Technology strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural standards. Works closely with team members on the daily execution of deliverables and assists less experienced team members as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Works on multiple, moderately complex, enterprise-wide projects requiring technical expertise. Participates in systems and data analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement activities, as well as related maintenance and production support.
    Assists in the development of project scope and serves as a project point of contact when necessary. Participates in project-planning sessions with customers, business analysts, and team members to analyze development requirements, provide design recommendations for complex systems, and recommend methods and assignments.
    Conducts unit tests ensuring systems meet the needs of customer and line-of-business based on technical documentation. Provides ongoing maintenance of web applications and/or client/server applications or tools, depending upon previous involvement with projects.
    Manages unresolved production support issues across multiple areas of expertise. Provides design recommendations, develops application and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements and interfaces.
    Makes modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with technical specifications and division standards. Reviews efforts to ensure compliance to application standards.
    Follows documented and approved Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and makes recommendations toward the development of reusable routines or components, including object-oriented base class reuse.
    Translates business and technical requirements into cross-functional business application systems, providing custom integration solutions, including major system enhancements. Collaborates with team members in setting development guidelines
    Provides application support as needed during regular and after hours.
    Remains informed and proficient regarding applicable industry technical innovations, trends, standards and new developments. Maintains current skills and remains knowledgeable regarding new tools and computer languages as applicable.
    Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
    Performs other related duties as required.


Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

    Five years of related experience including data design and project management, using multiple programing languages, and using and managing metadata

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    Knowledge of data modeling and designing databases
    Solid understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC), software best practices and development methodologies
    Strong technologist with excellent data analysis and ETL skills
    Knowledge of various databases such as MySQL and Oracle
    Knowledge of scripting languages such as C# and VB.Net
    Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and Governance
    Knowledge of System DBA
    Understanding of multiple programming languages, systems, as well as data design and project management methodologies.
    Strong architecture, design, and development skills
    Understanding of building data warehouses for analytical and business intelligence solutions
    Understanding of business solutions that the data warehouse serves
    Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
    Skill in developing and organizing high-quality documentation
    Skill and flexibility managing multiple projects with large volumes of data in a rapidly changing environment
    Skill troubleshooting issues in a multi-tier environment
    Skill working with both business team members and technologists
    Leadership skills with an emphasis on teamwork

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or a Business Intelligence designation
    Experience in one or more Synovus lines-of-business
    Experience in the banking/financial services industry
