Job Description

In the role of Desktop Support Engineer, the individual will provide onsite customer service like installing software, troubleshooting technical problems related to end user desk. The professional must have excellent communication and customer service skills to help effectively address complex issues with non-technical consumers.

 

    End User Desk side support and Troubleshoot
    Patch update & Anti-virus support
    Application, Office, email & print support
    Experience of IT with basic understanding of Networks, Servers, Smart Devices and Telecoms.


Responsibilities

     First level contact for customer issues.
    Diagnose and troubleshoot applications, operating systems and software issues, technical issues, including login account and email account setup
    Ensure customer service is timely and accurate on a daily basis
    Address user tickets regarding desktop, windows application, office and other applications
    Maintain ticket updates for all reported incidents.
    Antivirus client management and troubleshoot Antivirus issues such as virus outbreaks, virus definition issues etc.
    Work with vendors and core technical team to remediate issues.
    Provide timely communication on issue status and resolution.
    Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot windows and Linux operating systems and Microsoft Office and another authorized desktop application.
    Proven ability to multi-task, effectively determine priorities and meet SLA’s.
    Adaptable and flexible in a fast-changing industry and work environment.
    Hands on experience with help desk and remote control software’s
    Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate team members
    Communicate with users with high degree of etiquettes and professionalism
    Ensure all the calls has been attended and updates in the Ticketing Tool whichever come under their bin.
    Contribute to improving customer support by actively responding to queries and handling complaints
    Traveling to multiple sites for support

Role Overview:

The Technical Support Engineer works with a team of experts to help large corporate customers deploy McAfee's network-based security applications. The main product focus is McAfee Web Protection Service & Unified Cloud Edge. The Technical Support Engineer addresses inquiries, primarily by email but also by phone, from corporate clients all around the world, but with a focus on the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). They support these clients until their issues are resolved. The problems encountered are analyzed in advance by the customers' technical experts, and formulated as a request on a technically advanced level. The challenge is to isolate the problem, find the cause, and provide a solution.

    International technical support over the phone and remotely
    Thorough problem solving with documentation of customer issues and expectations
    Writing of articles for the knowledge base
    Preparing and presenting product and protocol related trainings within the team
    Close cooperation with the development department

About you:

As a technical expert in the areas of networks and Unix/Linux operating systems, you must be able to analyze technical problems with the help of the usual tools, and solve them systematically. You are used to documenting your experience and knowledge in a meaningful way. You should also have the following qualities and experience:

    Training as an IT specialist for system integration/application development with professional experience or college degree in information and communication technology, or a comparable Bachelor's or Master's degree
    Considerable experience with Unix/Linux operating systems
    Advanced knowledge of web & routing protocols, TCP/IP, HTTP(2)/HTTPS, SSL, Firewalls, and VPNs
    Experience in using network analysis and troubleshooting tools

Responsibilities

Essential Function

    Be responsible for determining the security controls and procedures from business requirement, translating these into workable business solutions, this includes providing advice and consultancy on new and existing solutions.
    Assist with the development of security strategy plans and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture and security practices
    Assist in the design, implementation, documentation and publishing of security control and related policies.
    Research, design, engineer, document and advocate cloud based security solutions for business requirements including new product and support capabilities in the cloud and the virtualization and transition of existing infrastructure, systems, services and operations to the cloud.
    Designing and implementing AWS/Azure Security architectures.
    Monitor and manage significant security issues/breaches, taking remedial action where possible.
    Ensure that all new implementations of solutions are compliant with the security requirements; ensuring best practice is always followed.
    Serves as a contact for IT Security issues and assists with the formalization and documentation of related policy, procedures, standards and guidelines.
    Collaborate with other teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
    Train and mentor members of the team and other security technical resources, as necessary
    Work on multiple projects as a team member, and partner on systems related security components.
    Work with IT vendors to evaluate needs and provide solutions for customers’ IT security requirements.
    Responsible for documentations of regional and global IT security

 

Other Duties

    Review and analyse SIEM analyse security dashboards, reports, and events to identify and alert on attacks, malicious activity, indicators of compromise, and malware on corporate network and systems.
    Review security assessments and provide corporate security vulnerabilities, providing remediation recommendations and reporting.
    Continually monitor, refine, and improve the security technologies utilized by the Global SOC.
    Ensure that all of the systems, applications, and appliances of the threat and vulnerability management technologies are available and running effectively.
    To undertake such other duties and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
    Assist with developing, coordinating and documenting disaster recovery plans.
    Assists in the development and implementation of disaster recovery test plans.
    Participates in recovery drills.

 

Requirements

    Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent academic qualification.
    Minimum 5 years working experience in implementing, supporting and administering in IT Security position.
    Experience or strong working knowledge of managing security infrastructure – e.g. firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), vulnerability assessment and remediation, secure web gateway, secure email gateway, web application firewalls (WAF), endpoint protection, cloud security, SIEM, XDR and log management technology
    Demonstrated knowledge and experience securing and/or developing and maintaining software and services in MS Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
    Familiar with network design, services and tools.
    Ability to work independently and learn quickly is a must
    Self-motivated and team-oriented
    Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be able to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience; able to functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
    CISSP, CISA, CISM, AWS Specialty-Security, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, will be an added advantage.
    Occasional travels to other regional and international locations may be needed.
