    To build secure solutions which can be measured, for example on Coverage, Quantity, and Quality metrics, and can be moved into a supportable and maintainable Business as Usual state.
    To assist the rest of UK Security producing risk assessments of Group and 3rd party tools and platforms, as required.

The Role

You will have:

An Industry Lead Architect to join our Platform and Application Architecture Practice, with Enterprise Architecture, IT Strategy and Transformation skills and experience. We work with a variety of technology platforms including Cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google, IaaS, PaaS etc.) IoT, Blockchain and AI. Proven experience in one or more platforms is required.

The variety of clients we work with is diverse – covering small to medium sized enterprises to large public sector departments and public listed household names. Example activities include delivering major transformation programmes based on our values propositions including Digital Workplace and Cloud transformation. In addition, we engage on more consultative pieces of work such as assessing clients existing IT estate and advising how best to transform and adopt disruptive technologies, running proof of concept/proof of value exercises as well as producing IT strategies and undertaking a maturity assessment based on the current and future architecture and operating model.

 

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

 

As an Industry Lead Architect, you will: lead engagements which can be either advisory or solution delivery in nature; be the solution lead for bid and business development; lead the development of a value proposition for the practice; and provide line management and team leadership within the practice.

    Lead workshops and interviews with key clients to understand the customer’s business and IT requirements and the related system landscape and operating model.

The Vacancy

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the IT Director is responsible for defining and maintaining the IT Strategy, in alignment with the Business Strategy and ensuring the IT Department provide the required services to support the firm.   A vision, which embraces the digitalisation of the IT services to support business transformation, is essential.   The IT Director will work closely with the business and other business service teams and ensure that the IT provision enables the firm to provide the best practice services to clients and supports the firm's growth plans.  The candidate must have experience of leading a large team, have strong leadership qualities and be an advocate for technology and innovation.

Direct reports

Head of IT who will be responsible for Operational matters and general implementation of the IT Strategy.

Responsibilities

    Direct, lead and develop an effective IT Management team.
    Sit on the firm's Operations Board  and have an input into operational matters for the firm and provide guidance on strategic IT Matters
    Develop the IT Strategy with a vision for 3 to 5 years ahead to support the Business Strategy and ensure this is updated as required as and when needs change.
    Maintain a high-profile relationship with key stakeholders across the business to ensure a full understanding of business requirements across all locations; this may require visits from time to time to other offices
    Engage directly with the business via informal discussions, meetings, workshops and the like.  Where required these may extend to client meetings.
    Develop a business transformation plan to support digitalisation within the firm
    Develop relationships with strategic suppliers for procurement and contract negotiations.  Influence product development where appropriate and ensure the firm's investments are protected.
    Oversee all IT Services to ensure their objectives are set and that the teams are delivering against published SLAs
    Ensure all IT Implementations are configured with security at the core, and that all firm and client data is protected.
    Deliver the business continuity plan together with Risk & Compliance and Information Security
    Ensure all IT and Business Projects are managed according to the Project Management Methodology and Lifecycle with effective stakeholder management and oversight.
    Work closely with the Risk and Information Security Teams and be part of the Incident Management Team.
    Evaluate potential new IT systems and prepare and present the business case, which should include return on investment analysis.
    Develop and Manage the firm's IT budget with input from direct reports for both P&L and Capital expenditure.
    Monitor trends in IT and the Legal sector to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement of the firm's use of IT Systems and services.
    Periodically consider the relevance of using external resources
    Ensure that the IT Team are a high performing team and acts and operates with the firm's shared values at its core.
    Ensure the team are adequately resourced in terms of numbers and skill sets as new technology  is introduced
    Develop a governance framework to support the introduction of project and procurement requests.
    Provide advice and guidance on projects that fall outside of IT but form part of a technical solution

 

Key Skills & Experience

    3 to 5 years in a Head of IT or IT Director role preferably in a law firm
    Outstanding communication skills – verbal or written and the ability to engage clearly with all roles across the business
    Strong leadership, organisational and mentoring skills and experience of coaching individuals to develop their potential
    Proven technical background with an understanding of Security and Cloud technologies
    Experience of working in an International organisation
    Drive, energy and enthusiasm and to be an evangelist when necessary both in and outside of the firm
    Experience of working with Frameworks such as ISO, ITIL, CIS, Nist, etc

Purpose of the Role:        

ERM IT PMO is seeking a competent IT PMO Lead to manage global IT project demand, resources, schedules, risks and dependencies, and financials. The IT PMO Lead facilitates the IT Portfolio Review Board and communicates and reports project approval and status using approved technology and standards. Additionally, the position supervises the Portfolio Support work stream within our matrix organization. Role Dimensions:            

    Reports to Global Head of IT PMO

Principal Accountabilities:

    Collaborates with global partners, directors, and C-level executives to the right projects, people, and timing for the IT project portfolio
    Performs the day-to-day operations around demand and project management strategically, tactically
    Conducts audits of IT PMO staff, processes, and tools for accountability, transparency, compliance, and quality
    Operates within the IT PMO governance processes, supporting both the delivery teams and the business to ensure a pragmatic balance between control and timely delivery and quality
    Chair planning meetings, providing information on new or amended assignments, securing approvals, and updating the plan
    Maintains visibility to and represents all aspects of the work intake and demand management processes within the IT PMO and IT work streams including financial planning and costing; resource availability management; capacity planning; work tracking and delivery; supplier/vendor engagement as well as the functions related to IT project delivery
    Proactively manages change control and communicates impact in project scope, identifies risks/issues, and devises contingency plans
    Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical paths while maintaining accurate project plans with real-time milestones, tasks, and project health data for the portfolio in the PPM tools
    Maintains and improves the demand management processes and tools, e.g., systems, applications, documents, and job aids and working with IT to maintain and enhance as the organization continues to grow
    Reduces duplicity and redundancy,
    Maintains MS Project Online (PWA) and integration to Power BI for portfolio health and performance reporting, plus organization-wide communications related to portfolio pipeline, active projects, and resource availability
    Supervises and mentors Project Managers, Coordinator, and Change Leader as needed to ensure they are successful in their roles, and projects have proper resources, tools, and technology to efficiently manage projects end to end
    Adheres to company governance, policy, and security controls and manages projects to the same standards

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    7+ years working in an established PMO
    5+ years in IT Demand Management, Programme/Project Management, and Resource Planning
    Four-year degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    Advanced MS O365 skills required
    Expert in MS Project Online, PWA, and integration to Power BI and SharePoint
