Position Profile:
The IT Specialist will be part of AlphaPoint’s Infrastructure group.  The IT Specialist will maintain and improve the technical systems of the company to ensure that all employees have the technology they need to complete their work, and that the organization’s important files and information remain safe and intact.

This job is 100% remote.


Job Responsibilities:

    Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.
    Implement security measures.
    Monitor security certificates and company compliance of requirements.
    Provide technical support to company staff and troubleshoot computer problems.
    Install and update company software and hardware as needed.
    Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items.
    Manage & setup software & tools access / permissions (Crowdstrike / JIRA / Confluence / Slack / GitHub etc.)
    YubiKey enforcement and management.


Required Skills & Experience:

    A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or any equivalent degree.
    2+ years of Information Technology experience, providing computer IT Support for computer and software systems.
    Experience with Jira and Confluence preferred.
    Communicates effectively, excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
    A multi-tasker with a keen eye for detail, highly organized, and can thrive in fast-paced, high-stress scenarios.

The Role

About you

    10 + years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
    Demonstrated ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation
    Experience with AWS or any cloud technology
    Strong understanding of software technology and software patterns
    Good leadership skills and ability to engage and collaborate well with identified stakeholders
    Strong passion for technology and architecturally clean solutions
    Enthusiastic learner, who enjoys keeping abreast of industry developments, trends, technology etc
    Team player with a collaborative approach and outcome focussed

Key responsibilities

The Active Directory Specialist is responsible for driving the function towards successful technical delivery, utilising various programmes and operational support to increase capability and reduce risk.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for

• A minimum of 5+ years’ working with Active Directory, Access Management and Identity in general
• Good experience in system integration using modern technologies e.g. REST API, specifically MS Graph API and Log Analytics API
• Experience in configuring policies relating to Conditional Access, Identity Protection, Active Directory, Privilege Access Workstations
• Automation is key! You will have experience working with Microsoft AD Functions to optimise and automate
• Highly skilled in writing clean, reusable and efficient code that is easy to read
• Deep knowledge and understanding of technology; a person who stays relevant with the latest technology advancements and trends
• Knowledge of Identity Access management solutions and protocols.
• Knowledge of Microsoft’s Active Directory infrastructure, implementation and its security.
• Knowledgeable in cloud-based document management products.

Advantage if:
• Knowledge of DevOps or something similar

    Communicate often complex analytical solutions to the wider department, ensuring a strong transfer of key findings and intelligence

Main Duties:

    Developing and implementing a Long term forecasting algorithm

    Improving the platform's existing capabilities

    Forecasting and perform simulations of factors affecting the price

    Working with the developers to create workflows that allow clients to maximise their efficiency across day ahead and intraday markets

    Proven experience in the energy industry with a specific focus on having developed forecasting models

    Proven track record of developing forecasting models that have been successfully implemented in industry and used to determine investment decisions

    Experience forecasting additional time horizons and geographies is a plus

    Coding experience to develop the models. This will likely be in a statistically driven programming language such as Python or R

    Run and continuously improve existing price forecasting, models, databases and methodology

    Monitor and assess market and regulatory developments including reports and the review and challenge external consultant forecasts

    Maintain and regularly review market data and input assumptions

    Produce price forecasts and scenarios, and provide expert insight for optimisation, hedging, budgeting and investment/business development decisions

You will have:

    Masters or PhD in Data Science with a Finance background

    Python and its data science libraries (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, seaborn, Scikit Learn, matplotlib, IPython/Jupyter)

    R, Python, Azure, Power BI

    Expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Statistics

    Be able to demonstrate value from your previous projects

    A demonstrable ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences

    A self starter who is confident to own the process from data preparation to model building and implementation


Good to have:

    Minimal of 2 years experience in Energy Industry

    Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt the communication style to a specific audience

    Hold advanced qualifications in quantitative disciplines

    Will be working with large volumes of data and have solid experience working with big data architecture and data flows

    Understand agile iterative development and delivery with a “hands on” approach and a “can  do” attitude

    Be highly disciplined and self-organised, but also a team player.

    Data engineering skills with cloud platforms and big data tools
