Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

    Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals for enterprise storage in conjunction with data owners and department managers

 

Acquisition & Deployment

    Work with systems and database administrators to implement storage architectures that utilize industry best practices including Information Lifecycle Management, Hierarchical Storage Management, etc.
    Install and configure storage devices and corresponding software
    Implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets
    Establish appropriate end-user access control levels for stored data

 

Operational Management

    Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocations, limitations, security, and availability
    Perform and test backups and restores to ensure that enterprise data is effectively protected
    Communicate and enforce, through system procedures, data storage retention policies
    Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software
    Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval
    Research and make recommendations on storage products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
    Monitor, analyze, and predict trends for storage equipment performance, space allocation, and data growth to recommend enhancements to the IT storage team
    Develop routines for end-users to facilitate storage best practices
    Remain informed on storage laws, trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices; advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams on their relative importance
    Ensure that information storage measures and equipment adhere to all applicable laws and regulations
    Perform storage server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary
    Create required reports in response to business user needs
    Develop, document, and maintain operational processes and tasks
    Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team

 

Position Requirements:

 

Formal Education & Certification

    Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related is preferred
    Experience will be considered in lieu of degree
    5 years of experience as a storage administrator

Knowledge & Experience

    Excellent understanding of storage architecture design techniques, theories, principles, and practices
    Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting storage servers and management software, including EMC Unity, EMC XIO and Hitachi
    Solid skills in Windows and Linux operating systems
    Hands-on [Fibre Channel, iSCSI,…] SAN/NAS/DAS troubleshooting experience
    Experience with tape/disk drives  Networker and Rubrik backup and restore technologies
    Knowledge of change management systems
    Knowledge of applicable data retention practices and laws
    Experience desired in developing and submitting storage audits and compliance reports to governing bodies, legal entities, and/or external authorities
    Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environments
    Experience working with outside vendors such as Dell, Microsoft, Oracle, EMC, Hitachi, etc.
    Experience in the Defense Industry preferred, but not required

SCOPE OF WORK

    Troubleshoots hardware, software, printers, and network issues
    Performs Active Directory administration

Our client is a niche open source multi-factor authentication service provider looking for an IT Security Consultant that has interest an knowledge in two factor authentication or IAM to join their small team of agile colleagues, and help their customers located both within Germany and internationally.

The software is highly flexible based on the customer requirements and workflow, and can be used in a variety of environments.

As the ideal candidate:-

    Ideally you have atleast 2 years of recent professional experience with IAM or two factor authentication, or you are not a complete new comer into the topic.
    You must be familiar with other similar products in the market, so that you can easily integrate both the solutions when needed.
    Furthermore you should have public key infrastructure, active directory, and knowledge in data bases.
    You can work independently, and consultant customers how the solution can be better utilised based on their needs.
    You should be able speak fluent German, and also business English.
